We caught up with Laura Dundovic, Australian model, actress and insta famous influencer about lockdown positivity and how she embraces the Beautifully Healthy lifestyle. Laura, who is also a personal trainer, nutrition coach and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, shared her secret on how she stays mentally and physically healthy while juggling life’s other responsibilities. How do you live the Beautifully Healthy way every day?
I think living Beautifully Healthy is all about looking after our bodies. The more we look after them the easier life will be and the more we can get out of each day.
To me, it's taking a holistic approach to that and looking after not just our physical health, but our mental and social health too. For me, this means getting at least 8 hours sleep a night. Sleep is so important! I start the day with a stretch and some meditation. Throughout the day I fill my body with a balance of nutritious foods and make sure I am drinking at least 2L of water a day. I make sure I'm active every day, even if it's just a walk. Counting steps is a great way to monitor this.
I think this year has shown us the importance of connection with people so for my mental health I make sure every day I have a good chat with someone I can be open and vulnerable with. This is a perfect day for me, but life isn't always perfect. Some days I don't eat well, I don't exercise, and I let myself have those days. As long as a majority of them in a week are good you are headed in the right direction!
Do you have any tips on how to keep positive mentally during lockdowns?
Indeed! I've found that the things lockdown can take from you are freedom, connection, routine and purpose. If you are aware of this, you can do things to maintain a bit more balance in your life. Freedom is obviously the biggest one and whilst we can't jump on a plane and fly where we want, staying locked up in a house is only going to make that feel worse. I make a point of going outside everyday. Go for a walk and get some vitamin D! I promise it helps!
Whilst we can't go and see who we like, we are blessed to be living in a time with so much technology! Jump on a FaceTime or zoom call with friends and family. My friends and I have an online trivia night once a week and it makes such a difference. We all need each other right now.
A lot of people feel hopeless right now, especially with no end date and they are waiting on other people to give them direction in their life. The only way to combat this is to give yourself purpose. I've made a list of things I want to do, things I've been putting off for years, things I need to catch up on and things I want to learn and my days are so unbelievably busy! I don't have time to be upset. I hope some of these things help you. I think it's important during this time to remember that it's ok to be up and down at the moment and to be gentle on yourself and remember you are doing the best that you can.
